===Birth and Parents===John was the son of Hugh de Eure and his wife Ellen whose family origins are not known.Douglas Richardson. Magna Carta Ancestry: A Study in Colonial and Medieval Families, 4 vols, ed. Kimball G. Everingham, 2nd edition (Salt Lake City: the author, 2011), Vol. II, p. 124, EURE 3, Google BooksDouglas Richardson. Royal Ancestry: A Study in Colonial and Medieval Families, 5 vols, ed. Kimball G. Everingham (Salt Lake City: the author, 2013), Vol. II, p. 524, EURE 6 He was born on 21 September 1277: in a proof of age for Henry son of Conan of Kelkefelde, made in Hilary Term 28 Edward I (November 1299 - November 1300), Henry was said to have been 22 on "Monday after St. Lambert last", that is, on 21 September 1299, and to have been born on the same day as "John de Ever, his lord" who had proved his age 2 years earlier.'Inquisitions Post Mortem, Edward I, File 98', in Calendar of Inquisitions Post Mortem: Volume 3, Edward I, ed. J.E.E.S. Sharp and A.E. Stamp (London, 1912), pp. 489-508, wiry 623, British History Online, accessed 7 March 2022

===Marriage and Children===John married someone called Agnes. She was said to be a daughter of John de Insula in Foster's edition of Yorkshire visitations Joseph Foster. The Visitation of Yorkshire made in the years 1584/5... to which is added the subsequent Visitation made in 1612, with several additional pedigrees, privately printed 1875, pp. 610-612, Internet Archive and Clay's Extinct and Dormant Peerages.John William Clay. The Extinct and Dormant Peerage of the Northern Counties of England, James Nisbet and Company, 1913, p. 54, Internet Archive A pedigree in John Crawford Hodgson's History of Northumberland suggests doubt about her parentage, indicating it with dotted lines, and citing Foster's Yorkshire visitations volume,John Crawford Hodgson. A History of Northumberland, Vol. VII, Andrew Reid (Newcastle-upon-Tyne) and Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent & Company (London), 1904, p. 256, Internet Archive but a different pedigree in the same multi-volume work names her more firmly as daughter of John de Insula.John Crawford Hodgson. A History of Northumberland, Vol. XII, Andrew Reid (Newcastle-upon-Tyne) and Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent & Company (London), 1926, p. 495, Internet Archive
They married no later than 1301: in that year John de Lisle (de Insula), who had custody of John de Eure's lands during his minority, settled the manor of Stokesley, Yorkshire on John de Eure and his wife Agnes.'Parishes: Stokesley', in A History of the County of York North Riding: Volume 2, ed. William Page (London, 1923), pp. 301-308, British History Online, accessed 7 March 2022
